Milwaukee Wins 84-74 Over Detroit

On January 14th on their home court, the Panthers beat the Titans, 84-74, in conference play.

Paris Gulley led all scoring for the Panthers with 26 points on 53% shooting in 39 minutes, 18 of that coming from three-point range. Kaylon Williams contributed nine big assists.

A couple items of note about these two teams: Milwaukee was ranked much higher in the RPI, #109 to #222. The Panthers home court advantage is distinct, and this win bumps that record to 9-1. Last year, Milwaukee was 2-0 against Detroit. Over the last four years, the Panthers have a record of 7-2 with a record of 4-1 at U.S. Cellular Arena. Since 1980, Milwaukee is on top, 21-16.

The game came down to a big separation in shooting and three pointers.

The Panthers, with 58% shooting, were too much for the Titans and their 41% from the floor. Gaining an advantage at the three-point line, Milwaukee rang up a sizeable 42 points, beating a total of 12 by Detroit. A big highlight for Milwaukee was its 84 points, which was far better than its season average of 63.8.

The Panthers are now 13-6. With their record improving to 6-1 in the Horizon, they stay in 1st place. They're also on a 3 game winning streak.
